Ive been told (and have read in this forum) that an i3 is all thats needed for gaming. I got stuck with some parts so ive decided to put it to the test.

Hardware

i3 4130

B85M

8GB RAM

R9 280

M500 SSD ( this should not make any difference in gaming really)

WD Blue (already in the case)

CX500 watt

Generic case that i have no idea where i got, cable management is horrible but dont really care.

Will be installing Win7 today and some games along with some Synthetic bench's.

I will update on the progress.

Let me know if this should be posted in a different sub forum.

Most games you should be fine. I know games like Far Cry 4 won't even run on a CPU with less than four threads available without using a hack.

Ive never tried it and had everything here. People ask me this question a lot so i thought it would be good if i actually did it myself.

It's all you need for most games. Some of the newer big budget games won't run very well on a i3 though.

Downloading GTA V right now.

Guess a should have mentioned the monitor.

ASUS 1080, 2ms, 120Hz

Just played Dirt 3 at max and got 105-118fps

GPU is at stock.

A lot better than my Pentium w/ 280.
