21:9 or gsync

Go to solution Solved by Guest Strangerbob,

you absolutely HAVE to have both.... if you cant afford the upcoming 1200$ monitors that have this, then do what i do - wait

the story so far of gaming monitors worth actual money:

350$ LG 29um67 - 29inch, IPS, 2560x1080, 75hz, freesync
550$ LG 34um67 - 34inch, IPS, 2560x1080, 75hz, freesync

1100$ Acer z35 - 35inch, VA, 2560x1080, 144hz, gsync
1100$ Benq xr3501 - 35inch, VA, 2560x1080, 144hz, no-sync

1300$ Asus pg34q - 34inch, IPS, 3440x1440, 75hz, gsync
1300$ Acer xr341ck - 34inch, IPS, 3440x1440, 75hz, freesync
1300$ Acer x34 / xr341cka - 34inch, IPS, 3440x1440, 75hz(maybe 100hz), gsync

Sitting on my qnix 1440p monitor now. Starting to get a little funky after being overclocked so long.

Been thinking about the acer predator gsync or a 21:9 monitor. Anyone have experience with both?

I mainly play arma 3 mods so compatibility isn't really an issue. Can change pretty much everything in a3.

Don't remember if my sig is updated. Have 2 970g1gaming cards now.

depends on what you do mostly, if you game more then get a Gsync monitor, if you edit a lot and multitask a lot get a 21:9 monitor

i have a 21:9, most games will play at that ratio no problem. but as far as i know you'll be limited to 60Hz refresh rate, so if thats not enough id go for the g-sync

depends on what you value more? gaming or multitasking? if the answer is gaming g-sync is a better choice if not than 21:9 is better

What's the budget ?

There will be monitors later, but those will be ~1.2k $

Recommend what is best, not what you preffer.

There are some LG monitors out there with 2560x1080p and 30-75Hz variable refresh!!!

e. g. LG 29UM67-P (but it is a FreeSync monitor. -Yes, you got me there).

I think what I'm trying to get at is if gsync is really worth the premium over wider fov in 21:9 in a gaming oriented use case.

Could run 3 titan x on low/640p or ultra/4k in arma 3 and still get 45 fps :P (server limitations/noobish scripting) so 144hz isn't a huge deal.

I've ran surround in 1080p, but even thin bezels got to me and scaling warping bugged me a bit. I figured two-wide wouldnt be so stretched
