Left is heaven 4.0   on the right is witcher 2 on low (doesnt matter the settings same problem)

post-109182-0-62018500-1436534436.png

This problem is only present on this 285, and it worked just fine before. Cannot replicate issue on my 760.

So something with the driver, or card is not right, and being a 285 you cant RMA it. im hoping theres a solution other than giving up.

These gpu use drops cause massive stutter and lag/ freezing.

Runs GTA V fine at 1080p normal.
Runs Far Cry 3 fine at 1080p mix of high and medium, so far its only witcher 2 and chivalry that ive had problems with.

Its not temp a temp throttle it never goes above 77 C i have a super agressive system fan profile that i use on both the 760 and 285.

cpu bottleneck perhaps?

Yes an 8350 that runs my 760 fine is holding back my 285 EVEN THOUGH you can CLEARLY see that running heaven the gpu is used fully.

well, sorry for stepping on your very sensitive toe, you could at least check cpu usage...

fyi, heaven isnt very cpu intensive from my experience.

also, it may be a driver issue.

EDIT: we're talking r9 285 right?

Id google driver optimization issues with that card and witcher 3. My current card has had bad issues with battlefield 4 fps stutter, then every 2nd driver updte will sort off fix it.

Perhaps. its very odd seeings how so far its only those 2 games giving me issues, and like i said in my post, my 760 doesnt have those problems with those games thus removing any other PC part in my system as a culprit.

Dont need to check it. CPU has nothing to do with this, because if you READ my original post you can see that i state its only this gpu thats having problems. My 760, and my GTS 250, dont have this problem.

Should also mention atleast in witcher 2, it only starts to drop and freeze up when i move the camera i can leave it running all day and night and it wont drop a second. start to look around though and she goes nuts.

this utilization limit going all over the place is making me think my oc might have borked something going to erase all traces of after burner and see if that solves it. since the card had no problems before the oc. but afterwords even with it turned off its acting up.

don't be stupid, cpu bottleneck can be the problem, if i were you i'd check that first... it's known that amd gpus are having more trouble with cpu bottleneck than nvidia's

Also, as manikyath said, id run heaven with some cpu stress and see what happens

Big talk for a newbie, but this time its not the CPU.
