Is this gpu overkill

so im planning on getting a LG 34UC97 with a new build and i was thinking if the titan x is overkill for it to run games @ high or ultra(bf4/gta v) and should switch to a single 980ti, any thoughts?

Not so much overkill, as it is a waste of money. The 980Ti will perform almost exactly the same, for much less money.

Well, it's a good 3.3 million pixels off 4K. It's about 60% of a 4K panel, so it's not really close.
