Bottle Neck

Hi i have one question.

 

I upgraded my PC from Core 2 duo E8400 to Core 2 Quad Q9400..

I have 2 gb of ram ddr2 800 mhz and graphic amd radeon hd 6570 1 gb ddr3 128 bit

 

I have question is that bottle neck?

 

Because with core 2 duo E8400 in game need for speed most wanted 2012 i had 30-35 fps , now with core 2 quad q9400 i have 15 fps i cant get more i tryed everything...

 

- So it help if i buy 2 gb of ram ? -

 

Or fix is something else?

I don't think a bottleneck would really be your biggest issue, but the age of your components are. I suggest just saving up for something a bit more modern. Also, adding Ram won't help, unless you're pinning what you already have to the max. Then it might help. Also, glad I could be the one to tell you: welcome to the forum! Hope you enjoy your stay.

That CPU was barely a upgrade, but having 4 cores helps for some games!

Maybe cuz HD 6570 isnt a good card for gaming ?

Becouse those components very old. If you want more fps I would recommend you building a complete new system

Perhaps this is because most games work better with faster clock speeds rather than lots of cores.

Your old CPU was 2cores@3ghz, your new cpu is 4cores@2.66ghz.

so from a single core perspective you have reduced your speed.

Also both chips have got 6mb of L2 cache, this means on your old cpu you have ~3mb per core and on your new cpu you have ~1.5mb per core

Yup that is why I posted BARELY a upgrade...

Exactly right. That E8400 would have done better had you overclocked it for that kind of game instead of doing a side grade to the Q9400. A QX9650 or Q9550 would have been a good upgrade since they have the extra cache and core strength to outpace a strong dual core.

Also buy more RAM. If you're running 64 bit Windows (Vista, 7 or 8) on that system you're way under the minimum which is 4GB. If you're still chugging away on XP, then 4GB is still a good idea, but not required.

Not really in most modern titles there would be a pretty big increase in fps and stability. But only in modern titles so you're half right Also the core 2 quad definitely isn't bottlenecking the 6570. Not even the e8400 is slow enough to bottleneck that card.
