So im planning on upgrading from a low tier AMD CPU to the Intel i5 4690K, is it good for new games along with my GTX 970, can i expect to run most games very well with this?

Yes.

QUOTE ME IN A REPLY SO I CAN SEE THE NOTIFICATION!

When there is no danger of failure there is no pleasure in success.

I was thinking of the same thing about upgrading from a lower tier amd to this cpu and I have the same gpu I get kinda laggy on a lot of games thats why I want to upgrade my cpu. Also

Thanks for the answers, also I've heard that i will have to reactivate windows when switching from an am3+ mobo to a z97, is that true. I really don't want to re-buy windows considering the soon to come free windows 10.

I think that you can just use your windows key correct?

Yeah the lag with AMD and the 970 sucks. But i heard that the windows key can only be used/ activated on one motherboard

You couldn't even bottleneck the GtX 970 on a locked i5.

Windows Key transfer?

http://www.howtogeek.com/124286/how-to-uninstall-your-windows-product-key-before-you-sell-your-pc/

You can unregister your key via the CMD prompt. and Release it from the current install.

And use it on the next one.

/Don't blame me if it doesn't transfer, I know how to disconnect the key, but not if it works on another machine like your planning.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Don't do it now, when you restart your windows will be a trial version without a key.

Do it when you need to..
