windows 10 preview update still using windows 8.1

hi can any inform on this, this is the only update i have on windows 8.1 pro if i use this upgrade what will happen to my reserve copy ?. will i lose windows 10 if i do?.

Microsoft has recently announced that all windows 10 insiders will be able to get a copy of the fully released version of windows 10. HOWEVER, all windows 10 insiders will also be getting beta updates of windows 10 before everyone else that may contain bugs. It's basically like the current Steam feature where you can opt into the beta to get beta updates that contain new features but may be a bit buggy. The only difference here is that if you have to windows 10 preview you will be forced to get these updates and the only way to opt out is to buy a new copy of windows 10 and install that.

 

TL;DR: Yes, you will get an update to the full version of windows 10, but you will be forced to get beta updates and you will forever be a windows 10 beta tester.

Did you sign up to the insider program?

Because you really shouldn't be getting the insider build through windows update.

Microsoft have stated to insiders, that if you have upgraded from a legit windows 7 or windows 8 to Windows 10 Tech preview you are still entitled to get a full upgrade and you CAN turn off beta updates once Windows 10 is released

 

SO you can upgrade your windows 7 or 8 to the Win10 Beta and still get stable win10 at the end of july (you can opt out ONLY if you run a legit version),
