If you have a lot of chrome tabs open, it's normal.

My guess is there's a massive memory leak. After you're done installing the updates, reboot(you have to anyways) and see if the issue is fixed. I remember performing a disk check on one of my drives, cancelling it and having 10GB of RAM being consumed all of a sudden.

You're doing windows updates; it's normal. Once you reboot it should go away.

also my cpu runs hot and I plan to change thermal paste soon, could that cause cpu spikes? 

How hot are we talking? And are you talking about CPU usage spikes?

55-60 celsius under very low cpu usage and while playing games goes to 70 80 90 and sometimes even bit higher than that

90C is pretty damn hot. What cooler are you using at the moment?

90C is pretty damn hot. What cooler are you using at the moment?

I think its stock cooler im not sure.. can I check that somewhere?

I've had this pc for a long time and I dont think it was running this hot before, havent changed thermal paste even once I think.. 

I've had tihs pc for 5 years maybe not sure maybe 6

You definitely want to take a look at that thermal paste. It could be dried up if it hasn't been touched in 5-6 years.
