Ethernet Speed PLZ Help

Go to solution Solved by Jamdude,

When i open the dropdown for Network Adapters it says Realtek PCIe FE Family controler?

I think the FE stands for Fast Ethernet which is 10/100Mb/s shown here: http://www.realtek.com.tw/products/productsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=7&PFid=10&Level=3&Conn=2

I have recently decided to upgrade my modem and router from 10/100Mbit to Gigabit, however I am unsure on how to check to see if my laptop has a full speed Gigabit port. I would really like to know how to check within windows 7 itself rather than checking with the manufacture. Could someone please help so i can see if its worth upgrading or not. Thanks

Press Start then type Device Manager, then in Device Manager go to Network Adapters and it should say something along the lines of Gigabit Network Connection if your laptop supports Gigabit Ethernet.

Not a problem.  I don't know where you get components from in NZ but you could always et something like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/StarTech-com-Gigabit-Ethernet-Network-Adapter/dp/B0000TO0BQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1374929389&sr=8-1&keywords=gigabit+ethernet
