Would flashing bios improve performance?

comicsansms

I watched this video

and i was wondering if the same principal applies for my r9 280?

Would flashing bios from r9 280 to r9 280x improve performance? or would this brick my card?

both are a possibility, not worth the time tho, gains are too little

snip

Well it helps with compatibility.

I'm not sure, because I like to play safe.

So it might raise the Shaders but it will probably brick my card instead

As far as i know since the 6900 series, the deactivated shaders are laser cut to permanently disable them. So even after flashing all you get is more freedom with voltage, maybe some stability stuff.. maybe make it worst. Probably a better idea to just flash a newer 280 bios on the 280.

ok might brick your card, but if it works all you would get is some more fredome for overclocking i think, after that was discovered i think the shaders are "destroyed" or just not there anymore for that kind of thing, also can someone tell me if the 280 has dual bios? i would definatly not do this without that

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

#3. There is nothing "wrong" with being wrong. Learning from a mistake can be more valuable than not making one in the first place.
