He has £500 and that's nearly £400 dude.

Good point, well made.

Was trying to find a motherboard comparable to the one he'd already picked...

Could probably squeeze an i3 into the budget though.

Also the case is not part of the buget, propably should have mentioned that... sorry!

:-)

There's no reason it can't. Change the Zalman Z3 for a corsair spec 01 :)

Even better, just don't buy the case

Nice one, ill wait for arronleeds to get back to me with his recomendations and then make a decision between the two units,

Also how upgradable is the unit that youve described?

I couldn't possibly take credit for it, @stconquest picked it ;)

That's a difficult question to answer.

There won't be any new processors which will fit in that socket (AFAIK), so unless you change the mobo too, you won't be able to upgrade that. (Other than moving to an i7 of the same generation.)

PCIe 3.0 isn't going anywhere anytime soon, so the graphics card can likely be added further down the line.

An SSD would be a good upgrade too, and that can easily be added after you've built the system...

Hopefully that's the kind of answer you were looking for :P

PCIe 3.0 is the slot on your motherboard where the graphics card plugs in.

For the next few years, this will be standard, until motherboards are released with PCIe 4.0.

What I mean is that you'll be able to buy a new graphics card when yours is old, and it will still work in that motherboard.

You should be buying a graphics card now, as you suggest, but you'll be able to buy a new one to replace it in the future without replacing any other components.

Hope this helps/clears things up :)

Sorry if I didn't make that very clear, lol

So jack you don't need a case ? You already have one ? And do you have An os as the other guy didn't include it in the build, so if he added an os it would be over budget.

so this is a build i would choose if you dont need a case but need an os, the motherboard doesnt support the 1866mhz ram but it costs the same as the 1600mhz that someone else had in the build they recommended and also its 2 sticks of 4gb allowing dual channel.

this is a build id buy if you dont need the case or os, i have kept with the same cpu as even this i5 is enough for gpus like the titan x and fury x. it has an r9 280x which is better than the r9 380 in the other build which is just a rebranded r9 285 which is less powerful than the 280x, im pretty sure you could actually pick up an r9 290 for the same price if you loo around on some sites and it will run games at ultra settings easily. its all about looking on different sites for better prices, pc part picker isnt the best at finding good prices.

Also going to try something different and not have a case!

Going to try and find a way of mounting it on a antistatic board and then put it on a wall!

Cheers again @arronleeds , @rhyseyness and @stconquest
