So i've recently invested in setting up a pvr but the files are huge and I was wondering if there is a good program for compressing and converting video files. An hour hd show is 8gb per episode which is wayy too much for me to handle and have as many shows as I want. I've tried handbrake and it hasn't really worked to my liking. I have adobe cloud if there is an adobe program I can use.

Thanks in advance for the advice

There is no key on their website. It's a free product. Have you even read the COC of the forums?

Yes I have.

All of Freemake's is free anyways. Not sure why you're saying nonsense.

But anyways, @daquanwizard, Freemake doesn't necessarily compress videos, although you can get somewhat smaller video sizes out of it. Freemake is mainly for converting videos from one format to another.

I would recommend Handbrake, but you already said it wasn't working for you, which is super strange... What's the issue you're having? And if anything, just manually set the output bitrate to like 2500 or something, that way you get a good enough quality at a very nice file size.

Other than that, I dunno... I mean, you could throw the video into Movie Maker or some other video editing program and then export it to whatever you want.

There wasn't an issue with handbrake it was just not has fast has I would like it to be but its more of a hardware issue than a software issue im thinking. It takes 4 hours to convert an hour video which doesn't make it user friendly for me because of hardware restrictions im assuming.

The issue im having is that for some reason the window for handbrake is too large and i can't see the bottom half of the window. I've changed my resoultion settings on my computer and that doesn't seem to do the trick and im not sure why that is happening.

Also Media encoder doesn't support .wtv files which makes the program usless

Are you using a netbook with super low screen resolution?

And if anything, just manually set the output bitrate to like 2500 or something, that way you get a good enough quality at a very nice file size.

This would be very inefficient. Always use crf if you don't need a specific file size.http://slhck.info/articles/crf
