(Vintage? Infinity Speakers) What Type of Speakers Are These?

2G_Tony

My friend recently broke one of his speakers and I was just wondering if anyone could identify the model as he doesn't want me helping. The model and a source of where I could find parts for them (which I've been told is non-existent) would be fantastic. I don't know a lot about speakers, but from my understanding and what he's told me, nearly every driver in the speaker is destoryed and they have various different midranges, his of which used uncommon ones witch are incompatible with any replacement ones. So maybe just finding a whole new speaker (only one is broken) would be the way to go.

edit: he got ahold of the woofers, but he can't find the midrange. The midrange is incredibly difficult to get ahold of due to it being in the rarest speaker out of all the variations. Also, I now know the model of the speaker. Now I just need a source as to where I can find another single speaker to buy or replacement parts.
Edit 2: They shared the same drivers as Prelude MTS, so if I could find spare drivers for those he could use those as replacements.

Best DIY fix would be to buy new woofers for every hole on every speaker. partsexpress.com should have plenty of options. For advice on specific ranges to choose and crossovers, there are some pretty smart dudes around here who could help if your friend wants.

This wouldn't recreate the old speakers, but create an entirely new one using the old enclosure.

I guess the woofers aren't the issue, the midrange is.

Those are "vintage" at all. Those are not THAT old.

I'd say they are Interlude series but just look near the back, near the speaker posts it should say somewhere.

Thanks, I didn't know. He said they were 10+ years old or so. Sorry ;-;

When I said woofer, I was referring to all three. If the sub woofer and treble tweeter are good on both speakers, then just replace the mid woofers on both speakers.

Sorry I can't help with specific choices, that's not my specialty.

It's fine. I realize that I'm not that helpful due to lack of information about speakers in general. I'm still rocking cheap Pro Media 2.1s and think they sound fine... Just to put that into perspective for you xD

Well, promedia's are arguably the best in their class. :)
