The Rig (First Build)

ryyo96

Hi Everyone.

So this is it, the final build:

[PCPartPicker part list](http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/m9hPTW) / [Price breakdown by merchant](http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/m9hPTW/by_merchant/)

What do you think? Think I can play all Triple A games at high settings with decent FPS (60+?)?

Let me know your thoughts on the machine. Can't wait to start getting all the parts!

why 1333mhz ram? other than that all is good.

I doubt it would really degrade the experience (ram speeds does little in gaming), but 1600mhz or 1866mhz ram cant cost much more

Cpu: Ryzen 2700 @ 4.0Ghz | Motherboard: Hero VI x370 | Gpu: EVGA RTX 2080 | Cooler: Custom Water loop | Ram: 16GB Trident Z 3000MHz

PSU: RM650x + Braided cables | Case:  painted Corsair c70 | Monitor: MSI 1440p 144hz VA | Drives: 500GB 850 Evo (OS)

Wouldn't it be better to get a kit of HyperX Fury 16gb 1600mhz RAM instead? Will be the same price or cheaper. Other than that, it's great and will definitely play all games at ultra

It should be the 1866MHz Ram kit. Put the wrong one in. My mistake.

How quiet do you think the machine will run?

the nh-d15 is a beast of a cooler, and I doubt that i5 will be able to make it break a sweat, so the cpu aspect should be very quiet.

The gpu also has a very good cooler, but it will likely be a tad louder than the cpu (due to the smaller fans, that has to run faster)

I have that style cooler on my 970 and even at 50% fan speed it's not audible, 70% is where it starts.

Yes, but the 970 takes a lot less power, and emits a lot less heat than the 980 ti (980 ti's cooler is likely beefier, but will likely be a bit louder)

Go with 2 x 8GB Ram rather than two single sticks.

These two boards are a bit cheaper and are still red/black

For the PSU I'd go for a 750/850 G2 instead. It'll be more expensive, but they're awesome PSUs.

Also, 1080p 60fps? Dude, you could drive 1440p without breaking a sweat. I don't care what anyone says, the GTX 980 Ti is so ridiculously overkill for 1080p.

Other than that, looks awesome. Little jealous. :')

I think He might already have the psu as there is no store listed.

I agree with you on the gpu. I didn't notice he was playing at 1080p. A GTX 970 would be a better option.

I still personally think a GTX 970 is overkill for 1080p, I use an EVGA GTX 970 SSC and run 1440p like a dream. I do have to turn down the AA, but at the higher resolutions, it's not really needed.

Depends on the AA. If you would go crazy and select 8xAA Im pretty sure you wouldn't be able to get 60fps. Id say you could max everything and go with 2xAA and still get 60fps.

I plan on moving onto a 1440p monitor @ 144hz in a few months time after using my 1080p for a bit.

Then a GTX 980 Ti would be appropriate for this build. You won't be able to push 144fps in AAA titles at that res, but the lower respone times of 144Hz monitors make a lot of sense. I would have gotten the XB270HU had it not been so damn expensive.

Ok, I'll be getting the MSI 980 Ti as you know. Will I still get the performance that I've asked for without over clocking the GPU and CPU?

The 980ti is a beast out of the box (msi probably also has a factory overclock on it), and with these cards, overclocking is merely the icing on the cake, rather than a necessity.
