First Tattoos?

Hey guys,

 

So long story short, I want a tattoo this summer, but I'm having a hard time figuring out what I want. I want it to have some meaning. I would like to somehow incorporate my family into it (parents and sister) but I'm really not sure how. I don't want anything overlydone or corny, but I want it to have some importance. So for the people who do have tattoos here, where did you look for inspiration?

Make sure you love them because they seem to last. I currently don't like my tats, i have my chest tattooed. Also have some un colored so kids can paint them in, they love it.

That's the thing, I want something important that I like. I don't want some small cheap first tattoo. I really like tattoos, and would love a sleeve, etc, but I want to pay the big bucks, and spend the time getting something that looks artistically amazing and actually has a story or is important to me.

I really like tattoos, and would love a sleeve, etc, but I want to pay the big bucks, and spend the time getting something that looks artistically amazing and actually has a story or is important to me.[/quote you could just wait a bit forsome more life experiences , i have some math tattoos drawn up for next year, talk to the artist ahead of time to make sure they can do it.

I think tattoos that have some sort of meaning or sentimental value are always a bad idea. 5 years from now you'll most likely be a different person and that tattoo probably won't mean what it used to. I think a good tattoo is something that can be appreciated without any context, just something that looks really nice. My friend got a pink and purple feather kind of thing tattooed onto her back. It doesn't mean anything, it's just something that looks really good.

My issue is I'm just not artistically inclined, and while I can easily see another tattoo and say "that's amazing" I have a hard time making something my own, or coming up with something on my own that's unique.

Look around at tattoo artist's portfolios, or any artist's portfolio for that matter, to see if you can find something you like. It doesn't have to be your own, just something that you like. Also, don't get your parent's names tattooed on you. It's a nice gesture, but it's a little weird.

coz its also my youtube profile picture and i have been doing that pretty religously for a year and a half and it is a big part of my life, so the name chimmychunger means a lot to me,

You can't just think up something with meaning.

 

Something has to have meaning, and you get it tattooed. You can't just come up with a symbol

I imagine it being very awkward from a 3rd person view ... But maybe it's different in real life ...

I wouldn't. They seem cool but there is too many negatives. If you don't like it tuff luck, they are relatively expensive, and if the needle is not properly cleaned you could get a blood born disease.

I think if I get a quality piece of work I'll love it. Artists have portfolios showing all their work, so you can see their styles and specialties. It's not like walking up to a random person in a shop and being like "hit me with some skulls and flowers and shit" and just letting some rando dude go at it.

 

Also credible shops are all healthcode approved and completely clean. They don't reuse needles, every customer gets a fresh needle. Like when you go to the doctor.

 

I'd be much more concerned about going to work with it fresh and getting concrete dust, sawdust, sweat, dirt, etc in it and it getting infected, etc.

Yeah I guess your right. As long as it's not a shady pay me $5 and i'll do my best with aids needles

I just decided to not get one, and never did.  My cousin (1 out of 17 1st cousins) did decide to.  He did a custom designed crest thingy (all black) of his family name and jammed it on his shoulder blade (back).  About he size of a softball, a little smaller.  He also got a bumblebee on his calf for fun... he got a lot of shit for the bumblebee.  

 

IDK, he got one for meaning, and then one for fun.  He might be done now, since it has been 6-8 years since the bumblebee.  He likes his new toys now... brand new Harley, his X5, and his guns.

 

Oh wait, I think one of my other 1st cousins in Greece got one.  Closest to my age of all my cousins.  He is a doctor, I don't remember what he got.
