Some people make high-res banners for quality reasons or such. Some people (like me) do it just because they can.

Is there something I am failing to see here? With my videos, often-times I find myself working with images that are 15,360 x 8,640 or larger. This is with motion, as well as any effects applied to the images. I work with things this large, because people tend to forget about vectors. Which, of course, would be really nice.. 

 

So yes, a banner of this size is huge, but it's not gameplay, and is just artwork put together. Nothing special.
