DDR2 Ram

I've got 4gb of Corsair DDR2 ram in duel channel and I was thinking of adding another 4gb but I see that DDR2 ram is waay more expensive than DDR3... I know its older and i've been meaning to upgrade but then I would have to upgrade my mobo too (doesn't support ddr2). So what should I do? Buy the ram or upgrade the mobo? Any good mobos that would work with the Core 2 Quad Q9300?

You can find MSI mobos that support DDR3 off 2 dims and DDR2 off 2 dims for around $60 but they DO NOT overclock AT ALL. If you can find a 780I MOBO since they support DDR3 and you can still overclock half well on them.

C2Q's didn't support it nativly as DDr3 came out twords the end of their life, the Motherboard has to support it I believe, it's a odd thing.

considering the high prices of desktop ddr2 since they are out of production (i think you can find some lpddr2  in phones) i wouldn't bother.

4gb is still okay for all games as long as you don't have too many tabs open in chrome or are a heavy multitasker in general.

really? interesting, didn't know that, i only heard of some old boards which had a expension card for using ddr2 ram i believe

Get used DDR2 sticks. With quick search I found several corsair 4gb kits under $60.

I've had OK luck on ebay getting used DDR2.  Only problem is waiting for auctions to end.

Yeah but ive been hesitating to buy used RAM because im not too sure its reliable, especially since its older... I might just scrap my whole build soon and start from the ground up cuz it seems like i need to upgrade most of my componenents, theyre gonna be obsolete in a couple years...

Thats awfully generous but i think it would be best for me to purchase two of the same sticks so i dont get any issues, thanks for the suggestion though

No problem, look on Ebay, Craigslist, ect, I got my ram from craigslist and no problems their

brandnew in box.
