bad update from samsung?

my mother installed an android update to her samsung galaxy s5 and when the update was finished the phone went crazy, it started to call pepol and texting things to random numbers. (this also happened to my stepdad one day later) the phones were updated a week ago, samsung havent posted a patch.

Hopefully the updates are done separately for each country
