1440p vs 144hz !

aDham_z
Go to solution Solved by Sherako,

Which is better for me 1440p or 144hz ?

For those who asking i'm a fair gamer i play everything i mean everything from fps to moba to platform to chess lol .

And please tell me why you chosed 1440p over 144hz or 144hz over 1440p .

Thanks.

144hz: Very nice to see (I tried to make this into a sentence, but you know what I mean)

1440p: If you need the extra screen space for editing videos and such.

I'd get 144hz, I don't play professional, but 60 to 144hz is amazing. You can try to overclock your monitor, most of them do. 60 to 70hz is still noticeable and it is a life changer.

Also, AA is a thing.

Depends. If your into FPS like CSGO I would say 1080p 144Hz and you can't go wrong...Don't really know other than for FPS, I only play CSGO or AoE2HD or some survival games...

hz is the refresh rate of your monitor. That's the max amount of FPS it can display. 1440p is a resolution, that's how many pixels the monitor has. I'm not sure there are any 144hz 1440p monitors available. There are 144hz 1080p monitors. Also the difference between 120hz and 144hz is not worth the extra price.

EDIT: nvm thought this was a scrub question. I'd go with 1440p because my PC can hardly run anything at above 60 fps. Yeah it won't even launch games at 1440p but I can turn the resolution down.

I have not tried 144hz so I am not 100% sure how big the benefit it (although I0m sure it's there and noticeable), but if you decide to go for the higher resolution I'd go straight for 4k if I were you. Decent 1440p monitors are not that much cheaper than 4k ones and the difference is huge. I found that it's worth it to lower some settings to get the higher resolution.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

I'd rather go with 1440p than 144hz, I don't play really any games that would benefit from the higher refresh rate, and I'd like the extra screen realestate.

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

I think if you want your games to look a little prettier or you want to view two web pages side by side get the 1440p. If you want your games to look smoother get the 144hz. I went to microcenter to try out a swift a few weeks ago but they only had a 760 GPU connected to it so I couldn't see any difference from my 60hz monitor. At this point I would probably go for a 1440p myself. I only play league.

G3258 @ 4.5 | 8GB Team Vulcan RAM | 128GB Kingston V300 SSD (I didn't know what I was doing when I bought it) | MSI H81I Motherboard | Corsair H55 with Noctua NF-P12 | EVGA SSC GTX 960 4GB | OCZ 550W Fully Modular PSU with Noctua NF-A14 | Cooler Master Elite 130 (Soon to be something cool)

I own a 1440p 144 hz monitor. The Acer XB270HU with G-sync.

They're expensive but worth it if you like Nvidia or AMD specifically. Freesync for AMD. They have great freesync monitors coming out, problem is the support isn't as broad on the cards as G-sync is.
