hey i do have a strange problem. when playing Gta 5 my GPU usage is spiking all the time. it never stays at 100% or close to. I also do get FPS drops. Sometimes i do get a black screen with vertical stripes. In case of a RMA i made a video with full of evidence. https://youtu.be/BvbLrhX34ao Please watch it fully. So far i tryed these things, DDU remove old drivers, Install Gta 5 drivers, Tryed different ram stick. Fresh windows, Underclock card, Prime 95, Furmark, Bios update, Reseating GPU, Unparking Cores Cleaning my GPU + system from dust. Most intresting part is that a friend of mine took mine R9 290 in his system and it runned withouth any problems, he has a similiar build like mine My build: I5 4440, 8GB DDR3 1600,R9 290 Royalking Club 3d, Sythe big Shuriken Rev 2B, MSI H81M P33, Coolermaster G550M Friends build,I5 4440, 8GB DDR3 1600,R9 290 Windforce, MSI H81M P33, Corsair V550 Since it runned fine in his system im not sure if i should RMA my card or not. In BF4 and other games my GPU stays at a 100% load Please again make sure to watch the link i provided since its full of helpfull information. I am the most worried about the Vertical stripes

I think it's the hdd failing to load everything quickly enough. If you have an ssd, try to put gta V on that and try it again.

edit: i'm quite sure of it actually, there is A LOT of pop-in when you are driving so i'm quite sure the hdd is the issue here.

If you want my attention, quote meh! D: or just stick an @samcool55 in your post :3

This seems likely. Also it appears like it's only happening when you're moving VERY fast.

If you can, try it with another PSU (your friends?) before you RMA the card.

i asked that to my friend (i builded his pc) but he doesnt want to what i understand. i am like 10 hours a day not home for school work experience so i got minimal time to dissasemble his pc to test mine. The only things what isnt tested atm is CPU, PSU and Mobo

And your camera too.

Thanks for that usefull comment :P i could used fraps to record the artifacting but 9 out of the 10 times out of a artifact crash i have to manually reboot my pc and fraps doesnt capture it

Would be pretty shitty since my hdd is like 6-8 months old ( WD blue 10 ezex) already runned a smart test. but i guess thats not enough to be sure it isnt my hdd. But can my HDD cause these artifacting stripes as seen in the video ? in the video there is like 3 times captured of the artifacting. in eurotruck simulator 2 i managed to capture what happends in game when a artifacting crash happends

The lagg is easy to fix in game by installing the GTA 5 Beta drivers from AMD. however my friend uses the regular drivers and tested my card with those drivers and didnt had lag. i tryed it with regular drivers and i lagg like crazy. Oh and notice the images below. Also in the video i shared i have some images showing my GPU usage whice spikes all the time just in GTA5, BF4 and ets2 it stays steady or close to 100%

Those warnings explain why you have black screens, the AMD driver crashes and restarts, and you have a black screen during that.

Maybe try to reinstall the drivers again, but remove them first!

I did that even on a fresh windows i had these problems. i removed many times my old drivers with DDU and even removed my AMD map on my C Local disk. tryed different version but still the problems occur. There are alot of Display error but also Distributed COm and 2 times a disk warning.

This problem is happening already for a couple months for me. on day 1 i had my card i wasnt even able to use it. played a game and bang 2 minutes later my screen went black. fixed this by increasing my powerlimiter to 50% (MAX) in Catalyst Control Center. To be sure i runned 5 hour furmark without any problem. I never overclocked my card so its running at stock speeds. after 34min of furmark my card gets 88Degrees with automatic fan. I have had contact with Club 3d AND they sended me a custom bios for my R9 290. im not sure if i should install it or just wait.
