Minecraft on used Macbook Air?

Hi all, so next year I will need an actual computer for school instead of my chromebook.  My Chromebook is amazing.  It's very fast and had great battery life.  I'm sad I can't use it.  So I have decided to get a used 13 inch macbook air because of build, battery life, reliability, style (don't mind looking a bit cooler :P) and also I have always wanted to check out macs even though I'm a pc guy.  So yea.  Anyway I am picking up a used 2010 macbook air for ebay for 180-250 dollars.  I might play a bit of Minecraft on it as well outside of school.  How well would it play on max settings?

 

1.8 core duo, 128 gb ssd, 2 gigs ram, also built in intel graphics

bad. on my old laptop (1.2 ghz celeron with 2 gigs of ram lol) i struggled getting 40 fps on low low settings.

4gb of ram is a minimum for any thing these days. You will regret not having a little extra horsepower. Find one with that first.

You know that guy that games on a MacBook? I'm that guy.

My haswell one can run it at almost lowest settings 60-100 FPS while doing PvP stuff. On maxed settings I think it would get about 20 FPS. Haswell was a giant leap forwards in iGPU power. I did also have a core 2 duo MBA and that ran minecraft only slightly slower but it was an older OS and older MC version.

TL;DR: Don't plan on playing anything but casual survival at low-med settings.

How about you dont get a macbook air or pro. Get a laptop with better specs for a little more or the same price if your lucky.

My budget is 180-250. I'm looking for a school laptop that can play minecraft. What would be better for the price?
