I want to have all types of fans on this computer to be Noctua fans, so it can be as quiet as possible without messing with fan speeds, as seen in that "Silent Gaming PC" video (I am a producer, this would come in handy). So how many noctua fans would I need to purchase, and what kind. Also, would it at all be safe to replace the power supply fan with a noctua fan, or is such a thing not even possible?

If you want to, populate every fan mounting spot in your case :) Although I am more of a Corsair SP fan.

FAN.

GET IT?

As a previous Corsair 750D owner, Here is the fan mounts:

TOP: 2x 120mm

Back: 1x 140mm

FRONT: 2x 140mm
Bottom: 1x 120mm

AFAIK, Check Corsair's Website for details though.

As for your Cooling, Especially for an X99 Build, I'd recommend you get a Corsair H105 and buy 4x 120mm Noctua fans for a Push/Pull Config instead, It'd be cooler and quieter than a tower cooler.

I would not recommend to mod your PSU, buy a high power PSU and use the eco mode, or buy a passive cooled one

CPU: Xeon 1230v3 - GPU: GTX 770  - SSD: 120GB 840 Evo - HDD: WD Blue 1TB - RAM: Ballistix 8GB - Case: CM N400 - PSU: CX 600M - Cooling: Cooler Master 212 Evo

Update Plans: Mini ITX this bitch

EDM. I don't have a specific style yet, as I've only been producing for like 1.5 years now. I am working on quite a bit of trancy sounding stuff though.

Audio producing doesn't need that much power :P I use FL Studio easily on an i7-4790k + GTX980, even that's way overkill.

I have five Noctua fans in my folding rig- four NF-S12B (12mm) for case fans and one NF-P14s (140mm) for the CPU cooler, and they are all completely silent under anything but max load. These are part of the Redux line-up, but if you are really looking to splash the cash you can go for the NF-A14 and NF-P12 models. To be honest, I would stick as many fans in as your case can handle as these fans are so quiet that you can afford to have plenty of them. As for replacing the PSU fans, I wouldn't recommend it. Just go for one that is marketed as silent operation. Finally, consider some custom fan curves. Can really improve overall system volume, as it means that not all fans have to be spinning at certain times.

Yeah lol, you even see some of the more famous producers working on a macbook, which is a dozen times less powerful.

I'm pretty honest to myself when I say that I'm really stupid when producing. I drag in a ton of Vengeance samples to test things out and never delete them if it doesn't work out. Because of that, the CPU gets a huge load to deal with, and eventually starts stuttering and skipping to the point where I can't really hear what's happening. And to top that all off it does all of that skipping on the highest buffer level. Its such a pain.

I'd go no further than a 4790k and just blow the rest of your budget on PCI or M.2 SSDs, a full 32GB of Ram and an Ultrawide Monitor with a GTX960. You'll get more performance (assuming its Only surfing/audio producing, not gaming) than you would with the system you linked above.

Well, I do have 1 m.2 SSD in that build, as well as 32GB of RAM. As far as any gaming goes, I'll only really be playing LoL. By the way, is a PCIe SSD or M.2 SSD good? I can only get an m.2 because newegg is sold out on Fury PCIe SSD's.

Yes. PCI doesn't have the same limitations as SATA3 and SATA-Express, however bear in mind if you use an M.2 SSD you're giving up a Sata-E port.

You should definetly get more higher end air cooler. 92mm fans, even when Noctua, are quite audible. So I would recommend U12S or U14S if you want to stay on budget (and with Noctua). Or go for D15. With case fans, you can go with 3 total. 2 front intakes and 1 rear exhaust.

First off: Noctuas are not that quiet. They have a good performance/noise ratio but they are not that quiet.

Looking at your build, you don't really have a lot of heat to dissipate. The case choice is also a bit odd, since your chosen hardware could easily fit into a case a third of that size.

What i would suggest is get a semi-passive graphis card aswell as PSU. The EVGA 960 superclocked is not semi passive afaik. I think the Gigabyte model is quite decent in regards to silence, plus it has a semi passive mode. For the PSU, go with a EVGA Supernova 750 G2 or a Corsair RM 750. Both are very good PSUs and they are also semi passive.

Now about the fans. Since you don't have a lot of heat to dissipate, I'd suggest to use bequiet fans. They are good for airflow and are extremeley quiet, yet not as high performing as noctuas - which again, they don't need to in your case. They will get the job done niceley, especially when you plan to occupy a lot of fan spots. As for the CPU cooler, you should get one with a lot of surface area and large fans. The bequiet Dark Rock Pro 3 would be a solid choice.

who cares...
