I'm thinking about getting the Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro headphones...
http://ncix.com/products/?sku=81350&vpn=709026

on sale right now for $200

could someone give me a second opinion on these headphones?

i really love closed headphones, makes it so much easier to forget life and drift away into music land :D

another thing is that i cherish my bass.. i listen to alot of Trap, and korean dance music... but it's also balanced out with some metal and rock

what would be a good sound card / amp to pair up with it?

$60 would be my max, but it is not in stone.

thanks in advance

You might want to consider a headphone amp with those. Do some googling for it. I can't recommend any models that arent quite expensive.

Feel free to message me if you want to chat!

i was looking at the FiiO E11 for an amp, would that be alright?

If it's for home use only the E10 is the more suitable option for around $60, the headphones don't really need amping at all as they are only 16 ohms but they will benefit from the dac part. An internal soundcard is not recommended for these headphones really.

They really need that lower output impedance on the e10 too.

That's what i thought, i know you have recommended 80 ohms minimum for most of the Xonar cards and these are 16 so not great. Out of interest how exactly does the output impedance affect the sound, i.e. what would be the negative of using something like a custom one pro with a STX?

I was thinking about the Audio Technia ATH-M50 & the FiiO E11..

I own that combo and that used to be my portable set till a little while ago.

but remember that you cannot listen to it while it is charging so it really truly isn't a solution for while you are stationary at the computer.

the e11 is purely for use on the go. and is kind of inconvenient to use on the computer or at home.

ah okay, so would an e10 be better? its only about $10 more so its not a huge deal

and how were the bass and mids of the setup? and overall sound quality?
