Get windows 8 as it is lighter and faster overall.  if you hate the modern UI then get Start is back. its $3 for 2 codes, plus it has a 30 day trial.

Classic Shell is free and does this.

Go to www.ninite.com and choose all that you want (classic shell is an option) when you install Win8. 8 uses less resources, so it's better for gamers.

I just ordered my parts with windows 8, you can mod it to look like 7, longer support and slightly faster.

classic shell is no way near as good as it runs as an application, Start is back uses start menu code from 7, because it is still there.

Here is a video

from Teksyndicate that will explain more about.

I'm using it and haven't had any problems or found anything of issue with it. It works. It's free. :|

Windows 8 is the clear choice if you aren't stuck up and riding the start menu bandwagon.

Unified search in 8.1 solves all the problems.

I would suggest using Google to find an answer to your question. There are far too many changes for me to sit here and write them all.

Take a look at this site: http://www.techradar.com/news/software/operating-systems/windows-blue-update-to-build-on-and-improve-windows-8-1131737
