Hello everyone,

Yesterday my PSU decided to fry itself with an spectacular bang. I tried to find anything burned on the mobo or graphics card and everything seems ok.

The problem is that today, after installing a brand new PSU nothing works. Mobo and graphics card receive current (let's on) but trying to start results on a light movement of the fans and silence, nothing boots.

Any ideas?

Thank you very much!

I had more or less the same problem,

that's why I bought a PSU with over current protection ;D

I would test everything one by one in a different pc, as you gave very little details, so we can't help much .

Recommend what is best, not what you preffer.

D: oh noz.

OP, your whole computer could be at risk when it comes to PSU failiure. I suspect foul play with your motherboard, and even your graphics could have been hit, because who knows, your PSU could have sent a giant surge of electricity before going off with a bang.

Thank you very much guys. It wasn't a cheap psu wen it was new was really expensive. It was simply old.

Nothing posts or beeps or shows on screen and I can't test anything on a spare computer. This particular one is a lga1366 socket and the other I have access to is something from amd.

This afternoon I'll try to troubleshoot slowly everything. If all fails I'll come back to you guys with questions about a new computer

Well, after many attempt and combinations and CMOS reset I came up with a plausible cause.

It all fails when I connect the 8 pin dedicated to cpu power and it refuses to power up. Also with a multimeter it appears that the pins are shorted out (12v to ground).

I am begging to feel bad about this, do you thing it's dead or it has some fancy solution?

Thank you very much!!
