Not really. You need to know the exact socket. And notebooks cpu might not be in retail.

I don't think I've ever seen stores sell laptop CPUs, but unless it's soldered to the board, you should be able to upgrade it (if your motherboard can support the new CPU and find an upgrade for your current one)

i5 3230M @ 2,6 GHz I think. With boost up to 3GHz if I'm right.

Socket is FCPGA988, aka Socket G2.

 

While upgrades are generally good/recommended, I don't advise you try to replace it yourself unless you have the skills and knowledge required to do so.

Theoretically? Yes.

Practically? Yes, you just unlock the socket, pull the old CPU out, pop in the new one, secure the retention clamp back onto the socket, apply thermal goo and put the heatpipe back in.

 

It's not a matter of physically replacing the CPU as it's more a question of your laptop's motherboard and bios supporting the CPU you'll be installing. Manufacturers don't tend to give that much info in what regards in-depth compatibility for laptop motherboards and they might even be locking the BIOS compatibility (most likely to force you to buy a new laptop if you want an upgrade)

That's your cpu/gpu heatsink for cooling. Underneath is the cpu you can probably upgrade it to an i7 if you really want to.
