Is this power supply sufficient?

Go to solution Solved by AlwaysFSX,

Why on Earth would you get a 4690k and a bloody H81 board?!

post-1744-0-27248300-1435216290.jpg

So I'm planning to replace my old computer with one I'm going to use for many years.

Would you recommend a Corsair cx500W or should I go for the Corsair cx600w? I believe it would be enough to power my system to boot but is there anything I should be considering? Such as a depreciation on the power supply if used for many years. I don't plan to overclock or SLI/crossfire my computer.

For $80 you can get an EVGA Supernova GS. Corsair CX series PSU's are not good imo. Also, you will need a Z97 board to overclock.

I would only understand a H81 board for the G3258... go for a z97 and yes your PSU is efficient enough.

OP doesn't want to overclock.

Cheapness level has gone off the roof.

I swear some people need to put in those five seconds of thought to understand what they're doing.

EVGA GS series is also around the same cost and is so much better then the CX series.

Can you tell me the reason why a H81 board is considered a bad idea for a 4690k?

Edit

- Oh crap its because 4690k is more for overclocking isn't it, whoops my bad, guess I'll get a 4460 instead.

Thank you guys for pointing out my mistake.
