Intel Pentium G3258 Unlocked or AMD FX 6300

I am building a new Gaming/Work PC. I would like to know if anyone could give me a recommendation on with of the 2 CPU's i should get.

I am going to be using my PC for 1080p gaming and video and image editing. I don't want to spend over $500 USD.

Decided Parts:

Case: Deepcool Tesseract SW Mid Tower Case - Charcoal

Storage: Kingston SSDNow V300 120GB 2.5" SATA III SSD

RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport LVP 4gb DDR3 1600MHz

PSU: Silverstone Strider Essential80+ 500W Black Power Supply

Undecided AMD Sided Parts:

Motherboard: MSI 970A-G43AM3+ Motherboard

CPU: AMD FX 6300 Black Edition 6 Core CPU

GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 750Ti Black Edition 2GB Video Card

Undecided Intel Sided Parts:

Motherboard: ASUS H81M-E H81 LGA 1150 Motherboard

CPU: Intel Pentium G3258 Dual Core LGA 1150 3.2GHz Unlocked CPU Processor

GPU: Galax Geforce GTX 960 2GB Video Card

The "Unlocked" and "6 core" are underlined as these are the factors that should be taken into consideration as I need the computer for gaming and work.

The "GTX 960" and "GTX 750Ti" are made bold to show that I also want to be able to play current games at 1080p. I am fine playing at Medium-High video settings.

If you have another build in the same price bracket please post them here and I will take them into consideration.

Thank You

Get the Pentium because it has a better upgrade path. AMD CPU's are just shit imo. Also don't get the SSDnow. Get something like an A-Data SP920 or a Crucial BX 100

Get the FX 6300 because it has a higher clock speed and it also has 6 cores not 2.

You will only require 4 cores of the 6 on the FX 6300 though

Like others have said go with the g3258 and overclock the hell out of it(1.4899v) because you do not care if it's last 25 years or 5.

You will have to upgrade anyways. (Just start to save up money for that i5)

G3258 has better upgrade path. With the 6300, your only upgrade choice is basically FX 8350 and then you're stuck in a hole, until Intel helps you out of it.

Why get a 960 with a dual core ? That is a bottleneck. May as well get a n i3. and a Nice AMD GPU.

NEVER GIVE UP. NEVER STOP LEARNING. DONT LET THE PAST HURT YOU. YOU CAN DOOOOO IT

i3 >= FX6300 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> G3258.

Games require 4 threads, G3258 has 2, and because of that G3258 gets stuttering in many games such as GTAV, Watch Dogs, Ryse, BF4 64ppl, AC: Unity...

FX 6300 if youre going to use it for a long time, if you plan to upgrade in future then G3258, but its really crappy for gaming.

See if there is a microcenter nearby. 6300 with MB for 100bucks. Combo deals on Intel stuff too and they have some great open box deals on GPU's and other stuff. Might be able to swing an AMD 8 core or I3 for your budget.

Tek syndicate has great info on intel vs amd

Hope this helps

240 and 170 bucks for gtx 770 and 960 at my philly store for an example. Other big PC stores may have simular. It was nice in CA having Fry's and PC warehouse 10 min away.
