come on 2 980 ti´s in SLI.... that is overkill m8 unless you are doing 2 or more 4 k monitors 

 

just go with 1 980 ti it is plenty for 1080p gameing and you save over 600 $

I would try and get a 1440p Monitor for gaming on and drop down to a single GTX 980 ti. You have way too much gpu power for a 60Hz 1080p screen.

It will but it's going to be super marginal. Only added GPU accelerated effects will utilize the GPU so two isn't really going to net you extra performance.

If you are editing 1080p, you probably want a higher the 1080p monitor so you can work with native resolution while still having the surrounding UI for the editing software.

The plan is pretty enthusiastic. I would research more on what your gaming and editing would use more (the CPU, single GPU or multiple GPUs) and then decide on these parts.

With that kind of budget I would consider some redundancy in the build. Probably a RAID configuration with WD Red drives ( http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=UifhcE) that provides both a speed boost and some redundancy. You could also consider a larger SSD, depending on what exactly do you need from your storage.

Considering your (rather immense) budget, I would seriously consider going workstation grade with your motherboard / cpu / ram, although it is completely up to you. I would probably build something with a Xeon E5 1650v3 and ECC DDR4. With such a high budget, I would also include an NVMe SSD, such as the Intel 750 400GB. For the ability to upgrade to 3 or 4 way SLI in the future, I might consider a CPU supporting a full 40 PCIe lanes, such as the 5930k or the Xeon that I mentioned, since that is one of the major appeals of the X99 platform.

 

Your graphics solution is wildly overkill for single panel gaming at 1080p; I would allocate more money to a 3x1440p setup, as the price for this resolution has fallen considerably. A single 4k gaming monitor could also be fun, although not necessary.With 2x 980ti, you could probably game in surround on all three.
