What board would you go with for i7 4790k

Just curious because I'm working on a build to put in ab i7 4790k. I'm leaning mostly towards an Asus Maximus Hero VII or sabertooth z97 rev 2. To save money I thought maybe going with a VI to save some money.... but I'm not overly sure of the difference between the two.

there's literally tons of options and mostly I would like the 8 sata ports, and a fair amount of usb ports in the back of the board.

Is gigabyte any good anymore? I used to think they were a pretty reputable brand but anymore I see a lot if their boards dirt cheap and I don't hear much good about them anymore. But same goes for AsRock I've been using an AsRock board with amd builds for years without trouble. I also see some Z97 MSI boards... i really like their graphics cards, but never tried one of their mobos.

You won't see any major performance differences.

Try looking at asrock anniversary, if u wanna save some.

Yeah I don't mind saving personally I like asus bios setup, but that board is rather pricy so if I can get an AsRock or gigabyte I'm still happy. Like I said I have used several AsRock boards with amd and have yet to be disappointed. I burned out ome of their boards once but it was my fault in every way not boards.

I know being cheaper doesn't make a board bad... i just used to hear tons of good things about gigabyte a while back but just don't hear much about them anymore and when I do its usually complaint.

So unlike amd, Intel regulates their boards relatively heavily. Any z97 atx board will preform within 5% of any other (you can see some substantial differences in the x99 platform due to higher quality/cost ceiling), so literally all you are doing is paying for a different bios/extra features.

The Msi gaming series is always a good thing to check out if you want options.
