G3258's iGPU is even worse than HD4400.

Buy an i3 4160, HD4400 will easily run HS or LOL at 1080p

(G3258's GPU - 10 EUs, i3 4130's GPU - 20 EUs)

AMD 860K @ 4.3GHz ; Kingston HyperX Fury 2400MHz ; Asus A88XM-Plus ; Sapphire R9 270X 2GB ; 600W Tacens Radix VII AG 80+Silver  ; Cooler Master TX3 Evo

the G3258 has quite a bit more uses than a "facebook machine"

but from what @Ketcchup posted, it wouldnt be a very good idea in this case.

We have a couple of machines running G3258 in the office and they're basically spares, since nobody wants anything to do with them. And most we do is have two browsers running at the same time with an excel spreadsheet up and the occasional outlook running.

Eh? 95% of the machines here are running on i5-4570. How exactly is preferring the better performing PC over the ones we keep around just in case a "troll"?

I went with the g3258 for buget reasons but after i put my new gpu with the i3-4160 will it be. Able to play new titles???? On very high or high options???

the G3258 will probably bottleneck a 750Ti. Unsure about the 4160, but it shouldn't cause any problems

Depends on the game and how willing you are to overclock.

For Crysis 3, sure, but a 750 Ti wouldn't get huge performance in games like this. So a more powerful CPU config probably wouldn't provide a noticeable performance improvement. However, I don't own one, so I can't comment objectively on this.

Loads of people use a G3258 with a powerful graphics configuration (like a GTX 970) and I don't see any complaints from them. It's a pretty damn powerful chip, given for what it is.

It'll probably be fine. The G3258 isn't that expensive anyway (£53 in the UK), so if you get performance problems, so what? Just get an i3 when you can and then sell the Pentium or repurpose it.

The G3258 should be fine for what you play. LoL isn't that demanding, and I haven't played Hearthstone, but I suspect it's a similar story.

EDIT: However, I wouldn't hedge your bets on the iGPU. A better buy might be the new Broadwell chips. They're more expensive, but they're powerful CPUs with a pretty potent iGPU. Then when you pair that CPU with a discrete GPU, man, that system would fly!

You should be able to play LoL and Hearthstone pretty well on these chips.

so you have played league before on the onboard graphs ????what setings did you have on it???

I have not. I've never used integrated graphics, I've always used discrete.

I said you SHOULD be able to play these games well on the Broadwell chips. I can't remember who did it, but someone ran the Bioshock Infinite benchmark with these new chips on low settings and got 70-80 fps, far more than the AMD APU range.

However, don't buy a G3258 to use its iGPU. You will only be disappointed. This chip should only be reserved for overclocking enthusiasts, or budget builds that include a discrete graphics card.

If you can afford one of the new Broadwell chips with a Z97 board, then great! But if you can't, and you decide to go the route of G3258, just make sure you get a discrete graphics card. I can't comment on the iGPU performance of the i3-4160 because I've never owned one.

so if i were to go with  these would it be better

Yes. Also, i3's 4 threads are future proof while G3258 2threads aren't, and will cause major stuttering in games. i3 is a much better option

I went with the g3258 for buget reasons but after i put my new gpu with the i3-4160 will it be. Able to play new titles???? On very high or high options???

Gamers interested in playing the newest titles at high setting should be looking at an i5 4460 minimum.

The G3258 is a cheap short term alternative that allows for upgrading.

An i3,at near twice the price of the pentium but not easy resale value, is a dead end.
