The backplate is not necessary, so I don't believe it is included.

I'm planning on slapping on a hybrid upgrade kit to my reference card but it just occurred to me. Does the kit include the backplate that is on the premade hybrid?

I thought it did come with one because it shows it on the main page for the hybrid. I would e-mail EVGA customer Service. Are the kits available again.

They were available for about 20 minutes, and as I was putting my payment info in, it went out of stock as I submitted my order. Damn those quick, sneaky f  ckers.

God knows how much longer I have to wait. :(

I have mine preordered on Amazon. Jacob over at EVGA site said all sellers (incl. Amazon) will have stock THIS WEEK! ^_^ Hopefully Amazon gets enough so I can get mine. All I have to do is get a security bit (hex) set for the reference card screws. Then I can get this shitty reference cooler out and enjoy sub-zero temps and overclocking. :) And I won't have to worry about checking my email 50 times a day for auto-notify.

Does that fit on the Titan X? Did Jacob say when the Titan X version will be back in stock?

I believe so. They both have the same exact PCB. Actually I remembered emailing EVGA if the TiX version would fit the Ti (and vice versa) and they said yes, both would fit. I'm just gonna get whatever comes out first (since the Ti is basically a TiX - $350  ).

If you're talking about the 980 version then I don't believe it will fit. But the TiX & Ti versions are interchangeable FYI.
