Problems with audio and mic

I'm experiencing a problem with my headphones. I have no knowledge of audio components and how they work so I figured I'd ask here since everyone was so helpful with my pc build a few months back.

 

I have a pair Tritton Triggers. I know that they're xbox headphones but I've found that they work fine with my pc through the use of a splitter. However the cable way too short to be comfortable so I bought an audio extender cable. The headphone's audio is pretty much nonexistent when using the cable and the mic doesn't work at all.

 

Does anyone know why this may the case? Any help is appreciated.

probably a bad cable thats broken somewere on the inside

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

I've bought two different cables from two different manufacturers.

 

Do you think that because these headphones are optimized for xbox that it might cause problems?

yah that might be a thing, i would still say the cable is broken but if thats not it its porbably that there not made for PC
