make sure its in the main hdd bay. My ssd in my laptop would not work in the expansion bay.<ignore this

 

go under my computer, right click and go to manage. Then go to disk manager and reformat the ssd so your pc can see it

Reboot then initialize the drive. Make sure you have the drivers installed too. If it doesn't work, probably DOA.

Go to Create and Format Disk Partitions, then you should be able to recognize it, should be relatively straightforward from there. Don't be scared of the interface but be sure that you're working with the right drive.

Go into Disk Management and find the drive there. You should see a section called "Unallocated." Right click on that and click New Simple Volume. Alternatively, you can use MiniTool Partition Wizard, which is my preferred program.
