I just got my parents a budget ssd to replace a failed hard drive. It is a SanDisk 128gb.

I am installing it to an older pc. It has a core 2 duo with a gigabyte motherboard (no uefi). I couldnt find the ssd in the bios, but I couldn't find anything in the bios, I've always hated that board.

I've plugged the ssd into three sata ports and never got anything. Windows or Linux mint. And reused the port from the previously working hard drive.

Any suggestions? Thanks a lot

right click the windows icon on the bottom left and go to disk management and if you see a drive with unallocated space right click and format it

I don't have windows installed on it. I was trying to format it during the Windows install but the drive didn't show up.

I do have a Linux mint disc. Strictly because I can use the live disc stuff if I need it. Anyway to make it work there?
