ok im going to get an Asus Z87-A motherboard because its not that expensive and it fitts the I5 4460 im getting, but i need a goodm cooler for it, i dont want to use the one intel provides mostly because my case has a window and its not that sexy to look at, also could i OC with this mobo because im thinking of geting a 4670K instead maby not sure if its worth it but id like some awnsers :)

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Overkill for a locked processor and a waste of money.

incorrect, no point spending money on a cheap cooler to then have to upgrade it when you get a better cpu.

Only get an expensive after market cooler if you have an unlocked CPU, if you get the I5 4460 you can buy something cheap that you think looks good. The cooler RazerZ mentioned looks pretty decent. Now if you get an unlocked I5 get the 4690K, thermals and overclocking are better. For a an air cooler i like Cryorig's line up, the H5A should be enough but you can get the R1 if you want, it performs within margin of error with the Noctua D15 and looks awesome. If you want watercooling...I would go with an air cooler for an I5, if you spend 100 bucks on the cooler you might as well have gotten an I7, and most dual rads are about or over 100 bucks and single rads are not better than a good air cooler. The Phanteks dual tower performs amazing and you can find it for around 70 bucks, the NH-D14 is still a great cooler and its selling pretty cheap, and well, if you want to do just a moderate OC and save some money, the hyper 212 evo is the golden standard.

Just saw that he might be considering the 4670k. If that's the case it would be worth considering. But it would be a waste to buy a locked i5 then spend more money to buy an unlocked i5.

Also the cooler I posted would work just as well as the 212 EVO for a moderate overclock.
