Does RAM type matter in gaming?

Getting crazy fast ram can help a TINY bit, but not enough to make it worth-while spending extra on it unless it's only a few dollars extra for like 2400 vs 1600.

Ram speeds and generation have next to no impact on gaming performance.

Going from 1333mhz to 2666mhz you might be lucky and get +2 fps (dont quote me on that)

going from DDR3 to DDR4 have no impact (atleast at this time)

Yup. I forgot to enable xmp in my bios to set my ram to 1600mhz (it was running at 1333 without xmp) and i got crazy frame drops in game. Enabled it and my problem was solved. After 1600mhz it doesnt matter that much in gaming. 

 

G. skill is a great brand I personal have crucial ballistix tac tracer, entirely for the leds. Crucial and g skill are my favorite ram brands.

I personally prefer 1600MHz to be the minimum but there is no noticeable difference after 1600MHz.

RAM is just RAM, get any RAM from a reputable brand.

Even 1866 CAS 9/10 will do fine as well.

 

 

Try not to go lower than 1600 or higher than CAS 10.
