I was looking for a PSU to replace the old PSU that will not work anymore in my HP desktop with a Pentium I found laying around in storage. Since it does not need such a high wattage PSU, I have a budget of $20-28 USD. I prefer brands Corsair and EVGA, but if there are cheaper ones, I would consider Silverstone, Seasonic, and Cooler Master, however, I would rather have Corsair or EVGA.

$20-28 USD

Umm...

No.

EDIT: Also, how many Watts? And location?

Basic guide to CPU's!

If I said I were 14, you would call me a kid. If I say 70, you’ll entitle me too old. If I say 20 you say I’m inexperienced and if I say 40 than I'm too boring.

For that pricepoint you won't be able to get anywhere really. Also please post the specs so we can determine what you need as Stilncat has said.

Well let me give you a little lesson as I like to teach people how PSU brands work because they don't work like you're illustrating above. No problem; everybody makes this mistake and you are not the only one.

The brand does NOT matter. Corsair doesn't "make" the PSUs, that's up to the OEM and in the case of nearly all Corsair PSUs the OEM is Channel Well Technology (or "China Well" as I call it) which means you are not getting quality. Seasonic, Super Flower, and Delta are the ones to look for. The only decent PSU from Corsair is the AX-series. End-of. EVGA uses Seasonic and Super Flower for most of their PSUs but the NEX, G1, and their lower-end stuff is not made by those OEMs I mentioned and are pretty mediocre or, in the case of the G1, actually horrible for your system with issues like ripple (AKA RIP in Peace HDDs).

Anyways, lesson over.

$20-28 cannot get you a decent PSU, sorry. You can get a Corsair CX430, keep it out of the way of heat and power-hungry components and hard drives and you should be fine. Otherwise, save up and buy a cheap Seasonic PSU (Seasonic is their own OEM BTW)

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Thanks to all of you for your responses.

I only need 300+ watts, and sorry for not thinking to add, but I'm in the U.S.

As you can see, I am not looking for the most quality PSU. I am looking for just a replacement for my system. However, I do not want junk. I am willing to consider anything a little over my budget. Keep in mind, this is only for a PC from 2008 that I would like to use for extremely simple tasks like web browsing, nothing more.

Doesn't matter, it troubled you more than me :P.

EVGA seems to be your best bet here, since they have great performance/price ratio. Corsair is also great, but they start from higher prices most of the time.

If you have time, wait for sales. Grab a 40-50 dollar PSU for 20 bucks. Don't grab a 20 dollar PSU, for 20 dollars. Cause that'll just light your s*** on fire.

Als, this PSU is good: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/antec-power-supply-vp450

Manufactured by Delta (the very best).

Okay, thanks. I have seen sales all over the place recently. I guess if I do get the PSU for $20 and it is worth $20, chances are that I'll get on the PC I'm putting the PSU in and find a good sale after I already bought the $20 one.
