Hi i have 2 pc Streaming setup but my old AMD FX 4170 is to old to stream att 60fps 720p

i know i can change the preset but then i will lose quality,

AMD FX-8320 Black Edition

will dis cpu do the good jobb ?

in 720p 60fps in Fast Faster ?

You are going from one FX cpu to another thinking the 8320 is a lot newer? The 8320 will do the job well, but it might be s systemal problem and not just the CPU.

But for it being a streaming PC you are going to want the more cores/threads of the 8320, it isn't the gaming PC unless I majorly misread something.

your gonna wanna use a nvidia card probably for its NVENC options

or try the amd VCE OBS version

both should offload the encoding to the gpu

tho that cpu is still really slow..might not help enough

If you need remote help fixing something on your computer

I can help over Teamviewer if you wish

I am using Avermedia live gamer HD capture card The AMD FX 4170 OC to 4.4 CPU Preset VeryFast  CFR ON Multitreaded Optimization is on Normal All Settings are good

The cpu is just to slow and the cpu usage is att 90-100 att 60 fps but if i drop it to 45 then all is good  60-85

Even a i7 4710HQ beats out a FX 4170 is single threaded applications. I realize this is a multi-thread application but I can stream 720p 60fps 3000kbps using my laptop with my RTMP server Present "Fast". I think the OP may need more cores or faster cores. Thankfully x264 encoding is well optimized so an 8 core cheap AMD cpu may just work if the streaming computer is ONLY streaming.

the comparison you made was odd. you compared an i7 to essentially an older and much cheaper (80) dollar cpu but yea amd 8 core will work fine

CPU: AMD FX-4170

GPU: NVIDIA GTX 210

RAM: KINGSTON 4GB 1333MHZ DDR3

Motherboard: ASUS M5A97 970 R2.0 AM3+ ATX

Capture card: Avermedia live gamer hd

I think your CPU is not strong enough, seeing as how if you drop the FPS to 45 everything goes back to normal you just need a few more cores to spread the work load.

Old 8 core AMD cpus are very good for cheap dedicated streaming machines. No need to overspend.

With a capture card why do you use OBS or am I just missing something. I'd get a 8320 and a 270 for that, because you don't need some high end card but you do need an updated GPU.

I believe the point was it was a laptop CPU though still it being an i7 is a little unfair. Just one day hopefully AMD competes with Intel.

I think I may have meant to quote the person you were quoting lol. Point being a mobile 4 core cpu will beat a 4 core fx but since x264 encoding is optimized for multi-threaded use upgrading to a cheap AMD 8 core will do the job with plenty of room for improving quality with out the need for intels superior IPC and costly cores per a dollar.

Then what should I do what cpu are you recommend? And why better gpu ?

Definitely get the AMD 8 core CPU! You could probably stream 720p 60fps 3000kbps CPU Preset "Fast/Medium"(with appropriate cooling) with that CPU. The FX 8320 will do the job!

As far as GPU you dont need a good one in your streaming PC. Im not sure what the other guy meant by buying a GPU? He might of been referring to the fact if you are using an RTMP server you dont need a capture card and spend the capture card money on a better GPU.

Streaming is what the FX CPUs does best I heard! :)

So get a octa-core but does your mobo support it?

i see the OP is using a 970 chipset mobo, you may want to get a 990FX mobo seeing as the 8xxx series are quite power hungry and a 970 chipset may not be able to even power the CPU properly, which can damage the CPU in the long run.

With my FX-6300 I have no problem with 1080p@60fps streaming with "veryfast" x264 preset. FX CPUs are decent for streaming, better than an i3 would be. But 9/10 times if you can buy an 8320 you can afford an i5-4460 which would do a lot better

FX CPUs aren't that slow... some programs (LIKE GAMES) just don't know how to utilize extra processing cores. OBS seems to have no problem with that
