Windows 7 acting weird

DirkaFat

So I got a new motherboard, and I already had an oem copy of windows 7 on my ssd. I thought oem copies were tied to the motherboard, and could not be used if the motherboard is changed. But when I turned on my computer, it went straight to windows. What?

@DirkaFat can you look to see if windows says something like reactivate in the next 30 days. Also windows normally has 3 activation per key because of issues like installation.

h77 and z77 are the "same" chipset. h77 has less features enabled than the z77. It's like you changed your graphic card from a GeForce GTX 670 to a GeForce GTX 680.

That is why Windows doesn't complain or detected something is strange. Let's say that the guys at Microsoft in charge of this, was nice when they coded this. But if abuse is taken place, be prepared that in future version of Windows, Microsoft will tight the rope.

Yeah I just checked slui.exe and there was a 3 day warning. I should've checked that first thing. Woops. I thought I was lucky :(

Even if it goes past 3 days, all they do is disable the backround and instead it says this is an illegal edition of windows 7, nothing else!

Really? Then why doesn't everyone just download windows 7 and not activate it? It would save the end user $100 on their builds...

Oh right, and if I remember correctly, windows updates are disabled if you don't activate it.
