Hi,

I need help choosing between the Gigabyte Tegra Note 7 and the Acer Iconia A1-840. The Acer has many advantages :

- more RAM (2 GB vs 1)

- better resolution (1900*1200 vs 1280*800), even though having a lower resolution isn't a problem for me especially for this size of screen

- slightly bigger screen (8" vs 7")

- slightly bigger battery (4600mah vs 4100mah)

The pros of the Tegra Note are :

- better CPU (see here : http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Nvidia-Tegra-4-vs-Intel-Atom-Z3745 )

- presence of a stylus, which is kind of a big deal for me since I'm going to use it for note taking at college

- the battery life seems to be better despite the smaller battery (10 hours vs 7.5 hours based on the product specs)

Both tablets are at the same price so I would like you to help me decide.

Thanks

Thanks for your reply. It's not only about the number of cores though, if you take a look at the Geekbench benchmark you see a score of 4148 vs 2454

the tegra is better...but not worth it cause of the ram limit

2gb would be the min I would want for a tablet these days..and in the future

If you need remote help fixing something on your computer

I can help over Teamviewer if you wish

just msg me on my profile

the screen size gives more power thus a bigger battery if that does not depend than go for the one with the bigger benchmark since you seem to be critique about preformance

might be better to tell us your budget and intended use

OK. At first I wanted a laptop but found out that it wasn't really worth the price, since 2GB of RAM and 16 or 32GB of storage on an Android tablet would provide a much better experience than a PC would with the same specs (which would cost about the same price). I decided that it would be a better investment to buy a tablet now then buy a higher end laptop later (I'm using a gaming desktop atm).

I want to use the tablet for note taking as I said before, web browsing, watching videos, reading books, playing a few Android games (not the most demanding ones), connect a keyboard and write some code and administer Linux servers when I have no choice, and also show demos of the websites/apps I develop to my clients. For note taking and making demos, having a stylus would probably be helpful (for adding notes on an image/PDF for example).
