I'm looking for a raid 0 solution for SSDs. Looking for ~550gb, so 480 or 512 is ok. Atm, im thinking of the intel 240gb 730 ssds. I can get a pair out here (japan, so my pc part picker is kakaku.com) for abotu 300$. That's less than a single evo 850.

Any other contenders? My mobo is the maximus vi hero, so no m2 slot, and I have only only open pcie slot.

the 730 240GB drives have really slow write speeds

why do you even want raid? a single SSD is more than enough speed

well, not seriously worried about write speed, and its not bad when in raid 0 anyways. Any why? because I can (yes, I'm THAT guy....)

Kingstn V300, KC300. Both are inexpensive. And since RAID0, the V300 will be better, since cheeper, and already okay in speed.

20% slower on average, and worse speeds for write than the intel it seems. thanks, but not for me :S

it would be cheaper and you would get better speeds from a PCIe drive

also it wouldnt be as unreliable as raid 0

could work. I have a maxiumus vi hero mobo, and atm the only open slot is the 4x PCI slot at the bottom. I have 2 gtx 970s and a networking card in there. so i think i still have enough pci lanes for a pcie ssd.

looks like 100$ more than the raid 0 though. I guess i could just get the 850 pro. out here its like 400$ and I wasnt sure it would be worth it when i could get 2 730s for 300...

I would get the 850 pro, and eventually save up for a NVME drive

The Crucial MX200 series. I would also recommend the Toshiba Q series Pro. I have a Corsair 240GB drive that does 560mb reads but the write speed is not very good. I ran standard 128GB Toshiba Q series in a RAID 0. These were the non Pro series. 1GB read speeds with 900+mb read speeds. The Crucial does read/write 500+. That is the closest to Samsung EVO pro speeds that I am aware of.

Update: Made my choice. So, i will get the 500gb 850 EVO (price/performance doesnt justify the extra 100$ for the pro)  and im going to get 2x WD 1tb blue and strip them in raid 0 for secondary storage. should be reasonably fast for games I don't play much. and it still leaves me with 500gb of 850 evo and 128gb of adata sx900 SSD storage for windows and games I do play.
