Testing I3-4150@1.5GHZ - safe?

Go to solution Solved by Aniallation,

I hope the actual question gets answered :/

Oh whoops

Yes, running underclocked by reducing ratio is fine, the CPU will only draw as much power (volts) as it needs to.

Although I do wonder why you wish to run it at 1.5GHz

Before I do some of the fun stuff.. I have a few questions. You can clock down a locked CPU, just not up via ratio. I put my Ratio from 35 to 15. I have a concern that too much power will be going to the cpu? And is running it soo low safe?

-Rest of post will come once first question is answered.-

I have a i3-4150. So you will laugh at what CPU-Z shows. No, I don't have any ROG Parts, I only have the ROG cpu-z skin because its cool.

It says I5-4690.   And the specification section just shows the exact model of my i3 however xD, and 3.5ghz is part of the model, even tho it isn't at 3.5ghz xD

And it says core speed is only at .8ghz cuz of low load I'm guessing.

I am and im confused. you sure you didnt get a 4690 by mistake?

I built this PC 6 months ago. This is the first thing ever that said 4690. Newegg said its a i3-4150. Intel box said so. Task manager said so, CPU-Z was USED to say so... CPU-ID says so, benchmarks say so, and game hardware detectors says its a i3-4150. Its a glitch with CPU-Z xD
