New build, should I change anything?

artinater

Hello, I tried to pick parts for my new build but I am still n00b so could anyone tell me if this is a good build or if I should change some things....

Parts:

CPU - Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor

CPU cooler - not using one

motherboard - MSI H81M-E34

memory - G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

storage- Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

video card - GTX 970

case - Fractal Design Define R4 w/Window (Black Pearl) ATX Mid Tower Case

PSU- Corsair CX 500W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

OS - Windows 7? Windows 8?

monitor - Asus VS238H-P 23.0" Monitor

This should cost me around a 1000$, I also checked if the parts were compatible but i'm still not sure......

-------edit 1------

I am going to choose another mother board and video card. Feel free to give me some ideas! Also not using the CPU cooler anymore.

--------edit 2------

Changed mother board to MSI H81M-E34

Edit 3-----------

GTX 970 video card

thanks for helping me choosing parts!

Get a Gtx 900 series card and why are you getting a z97 mobo when you are not overclocking????

Just one thing that CPU cannot overclock, however a Z97 mobo will allow for easy upgrades later on (to 4690K and such)

Aftermarket 980Ti >= Fury X >= Reference 980Ti > Fury > 980 > 390X > 390 >= 970 380X > 380 >= 960 > 950 >= 370 > 750Ti = 360

"The Orange Box" || CPU: i5 4690k || RAM: Kingston Hyper X Fury 16GB || Case: Aerocool DS200 (Orange) || Cooler: Cryorig R1 Ultimate || Storage: Kingston SSDNow V300 240GB + WD Black 1TB || PSU: Corsair RM750 || Mobo: ASUS Z97-A || GPU: EVGA GTX 970 FTW+

"Unnamed Form Factor Switch" || CPU: i7 6700K || RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB || Case: Phanteks Enthoo Evolv Mini ITX (White) || Cooler: Cryorig R1 Ultimate (Green Cover) || Storage: Samsung 850 Evo 1TB || PSU: XFX XTR 550W || Mobo: ASUS Z170I Pro Gaming || GPU: EVGA GTX 970 FTW+

I would skip the liquid cooler and spend the 100 dollars on a much better video card. I would also get a cooler master silenco 352 for 69 dollars and spend the left over money on a better an even better video card.

Do you need that motherboard as well. Seems like an over kill.

And Windows 8 for sure.

Yes that does seem like a good idea but I like the motherboard even if it might be a bit overkill, but I'll take the advice of skipping the liquid cooler and getting a better video card.

1. Skip the cooler you get a little cooler with the cpu for free

2. Get a GTX970/R9 290X or GTX960/R9 280X

Rest is fine

As is detailed by people above, you are not overclocking and so don't need a Z97 Motherboard. Also the money on a cooler would be better spent on a GTX 900 series.

Windows 7/8 does not matter as whichever one you get, they will be upgraded to Windows 10 in a month and a half
