So my SSD died a couple of days ago when I boot it tells me there's no operating system installed. Has anyone had this problem if so did you manage to fix it without doing a fresh install, should I just send it back? This seriously sucks BTW my copy of windows 7 is a repair build version so you can only activate it once and it has to be done over the phone not to mention having to install all my programs again.

Solid states are meant to be more reliable why has this happened?

My Sandisk 120GB SSD died 2 years ago. I did send it in, but luckily that SSD was just in my laptop that I use very infrequently.

I would argue over this and some people know exactly why "Solid states are meant to be more reliable why has this happened?".You can't do much.Since is in a 3d space and not a hdd's platan you can't recover it(maybe if the controller is dead and the cells intact but i doubt that)

Beware of him that is slow to anger; for when it is long coming, it is the stronger when it comes, and the longer kept. Abused patience turns to fury.

It sounds like the OS corrupted, so you can try and get a win 7 disc to attempt to repair.  But otherwise you need to reinstall.  If you do send it back you might wanna wipe the drive first.

I would try this but my windows disk states that it can't be used for recover on the case I haven't actually tried yet though. I was too disgusted with the thing I couldn't even look at it so I just hooked up my old desktop and ignored it until now.

Kingston it's a a shame because it was so fast like I'd boot up the windows animation thing would pop up for like a second and cut out before it finished and I'd be at my desktop.

Yeah I suppose this is the problem with them.

Kingston 120gb

I've only had experience with Sandisk, Intel and Samsung. I have Intel and Samsung SSD's that are 2-3 years old that are still going very strong.

If it is a V300 that = your problem.  They false advertise, and they aren't that reliable.

This. Sometimes it's definitely worth a bit more to get a more reliable SSD.
