I have two issues with skype. I use it regularly while playing games, and when anyone is added to the call or the call ends it tabs out of whatever game I'm in and goes to skype. How do I disable this? Also it fucks up my sound whenever I'm in a call. I used to know how to disable this but I can't find it now.

Not pointing fingers at OP I'm seriously wanting to know, Why is skype a thing for gaming? I feel like all these younger gamers use it now? Use a service MADE FOR GAMING.

Teamspeak, Mumble, Ventrillo, Razer Comms, Steam, - to name only a few. All of which are extremely cheap and/or free.

Because it comes with pcs sometimes, its free, has file transfer and instant messaging. I'm not saying I don't want to switch but I'm not going to as everyone I know uses skype and probably doesn't even know what any of those except steam is

Yeah thats totally fine.

I just find it interesting is all. Skype has nothing to do with gaming or gaming culture, and most I listed are made for gaming and have been an integral part of gaming culture since the beginning of online multiplayer. I just find it hilarious people use a heavy big program like skype. Must be a young or new PC gamer thing.

Skype provide the highest sound quality. Easy to use, keep history, and sync chat history between systems.

When a program steal focus, most games are coded to minimize itself when it looses focus.

You can try removing all notification pop-ups in the Skype option panel, see if that helps. I don't have a game that minimizes when lost focus installed, so I sadly can't test this, but I would play with Skype. I would also try and remove the pop-up floating panel when you do a call, by closing it when it shows.

Sadly, Microsoft has killed of Skype API not allowing third party to use Skype network. They are work around, but call quality is diminished, and sometimes messages sent are received super late, or simply lost, due to lack of support by Microsoft in offering official documentation.
