Is it working fine for u ?

For me its absolutely fine on my smartphone in mobile version.

I heard weeks back that it was broken. Would like to hear your current experience.

I haven't actually tried it since the new theme added it back in. I still use Google, I find it works well.

EDIT: Looks like the search bar actually uses Google, so I guess it works fine.

The stock forum search has been disabled for ages now (more than 6 months). It was initially disabled because of problems in database it caused. For some time there was no search at all. Which caused million threads asking after it. So they made custom script to bring it back, as Google custom search. And now its part of new themes. The stock search will be back when forum software gets update.

The search function has been removed because it was causing some issues on the back end, so while a small number of searches from people on mobile is probably OK, having it prominently displayed on the desktop site is not ideal. We were getting quite a lot of complaints about the search being completely useless anyway, so it was disabled, and has now been replaced with the "search this site via Google" box, which seems to work well enough in my experience.

When we update to IPB4, which should happen either this year or next year, we should be getting a proper search box back. Hopefully.
