So what kind of ports does that TV have?

Technically you CAN plug usb into a chromecast though ;) It has a micro-usb port on the back for power  ;)

Is there something I could buy for my girlfriends TV that allows her TV to watch movies from a USB?

It's a kind of old TV so I don't think it supports it out of the box.

Some blu-ray players support it.
