No worries man. No I don't think that you would end up bottlenecking your CPU with 2x R9 290's. Looking at some benchmarks it looks like the R9 290 CF does quite well. I personally wouldn't want a CF/SLi build but hey can't argue with the numbers.

Hi, I'm about to buy me one of those Qnix korean 1440p monitors, and am wondering about my build... I currently have an i7 3770 (no k) and a R9 290. I am wondering if it will suffice for 1440p (most games st high, like bf4). If not, I'll buy another 290... The problem is, my mobo only supports 1 GPU. I'm wondering of my 3770 will last for my 290's, or if i should upgrade it when i get a new mobo (if I keep my 3770 ill have to buy a LGA 1155 mobo, which cant really go much above the 3770.

PS. I don't know where this topic belongs, sorry!

With how CPU's have progressed I would say that you probably shouldn't worry a whole lot about CPU overhead in terms of graphic cards. I have a 4790k and the next gen is soon to come out but I know that there won't be a quantum leap in performance so I would imagine graphic cards will be fine with a solid intel cpu for quite some time. As I understand the bigger deal with larger resolutions is ram+gpu power and the R9 290 has no issue with both of those so I think you will be fine. I guess the question I would have for you is this what settings are you looking to achieve with that resolution.

No worries man. No I don't think that you would end up bottlenecking your CPU with 2x R9 290's. Looking at some benchmarks it looks like the R9 290 CF does quite well. I personally wouldn't want a CF/SLi build but hey can't argue with the numbers.
