So I was watching this week's WAN shows, and they talked about a phone core race. Prior to this I had figured that these multi-core phones were dumb, but had over time convinced myself that these giant companies knew what they were doing when they made mobile CPU's that had more cores than a extreme edition x99 i7, and that is somehow worked differently on phone OSes. Silly me. So then I began to wonder, how many cores does a phone use, and how much does it make use of these cores?

Tip to those that are new on LTT forum- quote a post so that the person you are quoting gets a notification, otherwise they'll have no idea that you did. You can also use a tag such as @Ryoutarou97 (replace my username with anyone's. You should get a dropdown after you type the "@")to send a notification, but quoting is preferable.

Feel free to PM me about absolutely anything be it tech, math, literature, etc. I'll try my best to help. I'm currently looking for a cheap used build for around $25 to set up as a home server if anyone is selling.

If you are a native speaker please use proper English if you can. Punctuation, capitalization, and spelling are as important to making your message readable as proper night theme formatting is.

My build is fully operational, but won't be posted until after I get a GPU in it and the case arted up.

I still don't understand as to why there is so much discussion over mobile hardware specs, the only thing I can think of that actually make use of a high end phone's specs are 3D games, and not many people bother with that. The most I do, like pretty much everyone else, is talk, text, take pics, and watch videos.

Amen to this. I'm not concerned about a phone's specs at all, since they pretty much all run great unless you seriously cheap out and get a crappy phone.

It really depends on the phone and the cpu in it to be honest. The iPhone 6 has a dual core CPU so it isn't as good for multitasking the two cores are utilized more heavily than some like the Galaxy S6 which has an eight core CPU.

There aren't? I don't think so. That would be absolutely stupid.

Not necessarily. the 5820k has 6 cores and 12 threads.

Also, I'm not sure that phone processors are hyperthreaded. I know there are 8 core phone processors, but not sure if they are.
